IDG about landscape

We provide a range of services from schematic landscape design through to the procurement of the perfect feature plant or hardscape elements.

There are several phases in the landscape design process. Some of these are stand-alone whilst some need to be utilised in conjunction with other phases, dependant on the level of service you require for your project.

Schematic Design
The schematic design phase is very important. It involves making sure we are familiar with the site as well achieving your desired outcome. This phase comprises the preparation of landscape concept plans which comply with the local authority guidelines and your brief to us. It also includes the preparation of a coloured landscape presentation plans for approval and marketing. Our office can offer the benefit of having in-house facilities such as the latest high resolution, colour reproduction printers (producing prints from A4 to A0 in size) as well as up-to-date design programs. Once this is complete we will present our design and discuss moving forward to the next phase.

Landscape Intent Statement
In the infancy of a project a local authority or council may require a Landscape Intent Statement to assist in the Development Application. IDG offers this service to facilitate such applications by way of written reports, diagrams indicating various site movements, imagery and generic plant selections in a professionally produced and bond document.

Design Development

On approval of the schematic design, we commence the design development phase. This phase includes further development of the original plans, creating the final design solution. This phase will give an indication of surface treatments, planting styles, schemes and materials to enable accurate budget preparation and indicative pricing. These drawings are also suitable for obtaining local authority planning approvals.

Construction Documentation

The construction documentation phase includes the documentation of the hard and soft aspects of the landscape. This information is for use in final local authority approvals, the tendering process and ultimately construction. The hardscape documentation would include the design documentation of any swimming pools, spas, water features, paving, planters, retaining walls, streetscapes and associated construction details. Softscape documentation would include the scheduling quantities of all plant material.

Site Supervision
This phase includes providing assistance to the client or project manager with periodic inspections of the landscape works during construction, attendance at site meetings as requested and the inspection of the works at practical completion, defective works report and final completion sign off.
